Custom Storage and Shipping Containers

As well as standard and cut down shipping containers, we can also build bespoke containers from the ground up! You may need a simple small storage container for use in your garden, or perhaps something higher than a high cube container of 9ft 6in for storing heavy plant, you might even need a unit that is entirely out of the ordinary in size and shape! 3J Services Ltd work with a team of steel fabricators that can turn their hand to anything and specialise in container-based steel structures.

Full Steel Custom Built Containers

Custom built storage and shipping containers are made with a full steel shell which starts by forming the base of the unit with new cross bearers and bottom rails. One of the many benefits of building containers this way is that they can be built to different load bearing capacities so it’s useful to know what you will be storing in the container and how much it is estimated to hold. Within the build-up of the container floor, we can also include forklift pockets, corner castings and insulation in-between or on top of the steel cross bearers. The bearers will be overlaid with the final flooring which may be standard marine plywood, steel durbar or something different depending on the use of the unit.

Other Custom Build Container Requirements

As we work up the container, further aspects to consider are what the walls need to look like, how you will access the unit and if you need any internal insulation. We can use either corrugated steel or flat steel panels for the container walls, the steel can then be painted with marine standard container paint to your choice of RAL colour or it could be clad with timber externally. Internally we have a number of options; the container can be painted, treated with Grafo-Therm insulation, lined with melamine faced chipboard or plywood, insulated with rockwool or spray foam insulation, the list goes on. We do always recommend having some kind of condensation control in containers so if you are looking for the most cost effective option, grafo-therm insulation over marine standard paintwork would be the way to go.

Container Modifications

Our options for access in the custom built containers include new flat panel double doors, single personnel doors, double personnel doors, roller shutters, glazed doors or if you need something heavy duty we can install shipping container cargo doors. We can also supply and fit container windows, louvre vents, electrics, heating, lifting lugs or corner castings, access hatches, viewing windows, container security and much more. Other items our steel fabricators can manufacture are steel staircases, container ramps and more bespoke units such as outdoor steel sheltersThe options are limitless when converting or custom building containers.
