The Brief
A school in Milton Keynes initially approached us looking for a 20ft storage container to help meet its growing storage needs. Following further discussions, it became clear that a 40ft container would offer significantly more value, providing a substantial amount of additional secure storage for multiple departments and individuals across the school. We worked closely with the customer to agree on a specification that met their requirements and budget and they ended up having a 40ft new high cube container. To maximise the container’s practicality, we also incorporated shelving and a couple of coat hooks at a reasonable additional cost. With the specification agreed, there was just one challenge left to overcome: getting the container into position!
The Challenge
The school had identified the perfect location for its new container, but there was a significant obstacle. The delivery point was approximately 50 metres across the school’s pristine playing fields. For most hauliers, driving a heavy delivery vehicle across grass is a definite no-go, particularly during the autumn months. Even when the ground appears firm, the combined weight of the vehicle and a 40ft container can cause serious damage to the playing field, with a high risk of getting stuck along the way. The school urgently needed its additional storage, but a conventional delivery simply wasn’t a viable option. We needed an alternative solution that would get the container exactly where it was needed without risking damage to the grounds.
Our Solution – Enter the Mule!
The Mule is an all-terrain, remote-controlled machine that attaches to the front and rear of a container, enabling it to be manoeuvred into locations that would be inaccessible to a conventional delivery vehicle. Rather than compromise on the container’s size or the school’s preferred location, we put the Mule to work. This specialist equipment allowed us to navigate the challenging ground conditions and transport the 40ft container across the playing fields to its designated position. By combining the right equipment with careful planning, we were able to overcome the access challenge and deliver the container where the school needed it most.

The Result
The delivery was a complete success! The school received its 40ft container in the exact location required, gaining a mammoth amount of additional secure storage without the need to compromise on space or positioning. With the agreed shelving and coat hooks included, the container was ready to support the varied storage needs of departments and individuals throughout the school. The result? A practical, cost-effective storage solution, delivered exactly where it was needed, thanks to a little ingenuity and the capabilities of the Mule. Another example of how we go the extra mile to find a solution when a standard delivery simply won’t do!
