The Brief
We recently delivered two 10ft storage containers to a school in North Shropshire to provide secure storage for PE equipment and PTA-owned items. The containers were positioned where old sheds had previously stood, leaving a gap between the two units.
The Challenge
During the delivery, a member of our team visited the site and spoke with the customer, who explained that they needed even more storage space for larger, bulkier items. These were items they didn’t necessarily want to store inside the containers due to limited space, but they still needed protection from the elements. The customer didn’t require the full benefits of another container, so we needed to find a practical, cost-effective solution that would maximise the available space.
Our Solution
That’s when we had a lightbulb moment!
We suggested transforming the gap between the two containers into an enclosed canopy, using a fabricated steel structure made from container panels. This would create additional covered storage space for bulky equipment, keeping it protected from the weather without the need for another full container. As a container floor or base wasn’t necessary, the existing slabbed ground was retained. The steel structure was then fabricated and welded to the sides of the two existing containers, creating a seamless, practical extension to the school’s storage facilities.
The Result
The customer was over the moon with the finished result! By thinking creatively and making the most of the existing space, we delivered a bespoke storage solution that met their needs without the expense or footprint of an additional container. The school now benefits from extra, weather-protected storage for its larger items, while making the very best use of the space available. Another great example of how we go beyond simply supplying containers; we find solutions that work for our customers. Always thinking outside the box!
